Medan, 22 July 2026 – The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a visit from the USU Academic Senate as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional synergy, enhance the quality of the university's Tri Dharma implementation, and reinforce academic governance based on quality and accountability.
The Academic Senate delegation comprised Prof. Dr. Drs. Budi Agustono, M.S. (Chair of the Academic Senate), Prof. Dr. Dwi Suryanto, M.Sc. (Chair of Commission A), Prof. drg. Sondang Pintauli, Ph.D., FISDPH., FISPD. (Secretary of Commission A), Prof. Ir. Nazaruddin, M.T., Ph.D. (Chair of Commission B), Prof. Dr. Erman Munir, M.Sc. (Chair of Commission C), and Prof. Ir. Nurlisa Ginting, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Secretary of Commission D).
Attended by faculty members and administrative staff of the Faculty of Nursing, the visit took place in a warm and collaborative atmosphere, featuring constructive discussions on strategic issues related to academic development across the university.
The program began with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Drs. Budi Agustono, M.S., Chair of the USU Academic Senate. In his address, he emphasized the Senate's vital role in safeguarding the university's academic integrity. He noted that the visit was intended to strengthen communication between the Academic Senate and the faculty, ensuring that academic policies are well understood, effectively implemented, and continuously refined to improve the quality of higher education.
The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Dudut Tanjung, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.KMB, then delivered a presentation highlighting the faculty's achievements, strategic programs, and future development plans. He reaffirmed the faculty's commitment to enhancing the quality of education, research, community service, and institutional governance to produce graduates who are competent, ethical, and competitive at both the national and international levels.
An interactive discussion followed, providing a productive forum for dialogue between the Academic Senate delegation and the faculty leadership. Participants exchanged ideas, recommendations, and strategic perspectives, reflecting their shared commitment to continuously strengthening academic quality throughout Universitas Sumatera Utara.
During the closing session, Prof. Dr. Dwi Suryanto, M.Sc., Chair of Commission A of the USU Academic Senate, delivered a presentation on key academic priorities, including strengthening academic culture, enhancing quality assurance systems, and fostering collaboration among all members of the academic community to build a university governance system that is responsive to scientific advancement and global challenges.
The Academic Senate's visit is expected to serve as an important milestone in strengthening institutional collaboration while reinforcing the commitment of the entire Faculty of Nursing community to delivering high-quality, innovative, and impactful higher education. Through close collaboration between the Academic Senate and the faculty, Universitas Sumatera Utara remains committed to nurturing academic professionals who demonstrate excellence, integrity, and meaningful contributions to national development.
