The Higher Education Standards being developed cover the three main areas of the Three Pillars of Higher Education, namely standards in education, research, and community service. These standards include the National Higher Education Standards (SN Dikti) as the minimum standards that must be met, as well as specific qualification standards established by the study programs. The implementation of all these standards serves as the main reference for all work units through the integrated cycle of Establishment, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement (PPEPP) to ensure continuous quality achievement.

The development and implementation of these Higher Education Standards are closely related to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education through the provision of a standardized, transparent, and accountable quality assurance system for higher nursing education. In addition, strengthening academic quality standards at the undergraduate, professional, and master's levels directly supports SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being by ensuring the development of competent professional nurses and nursing master's graduates who can contribute to improving the health status of the community.

Through the formulation of these comprehensive Higher Education Standards, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is committed to continuously improving the quality of governance and graduate quality. Each established standard not only serves as a benchmark for performance achievement but also provides a basis for every work unit to carry out continuous improvement and development in producing excellent health human resources at the national and international levels.
