On January 16, 2018, a meet-and-greet and socialization event for the "New Technical Intern Training Program" took place in the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) meeting room. Three delegates from Japan attended the event, led by Mr. Keigo Omi and Mr. Kamata Atsushi, CEO & President of Senmon Kyouiku Publishing Co., Ltd.
The meeting was attended by the Faculty of Nursing representatives, including the Dean (Mr. Setiawan), Vice Dean I (Mrs. Sri Eka Wahyuni), Vice Dean II (Mrs. Cholina Trisa Siregar), Vice Dean III (Mrs. Siti Saidah Nasution), and the Dean's Expert Staff for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration (Roxsana Devi Tumanggor). Additionally, two lecturers from the Japanese Literature Department, the Faculty of Cultural Studies USU, and a staff member from the Medan City Government were also present.
The discussion began with welcoming remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, followed by a presentation on the "New Technical Intern Training Program" by Mr. Keigo Omi. This program is an initiative by the Japanese government to train and place nurses in Japan. If an agreement is reached between the Faculty of Nursing USU and the program, alumni of the Faculty of Nursing USU will undergo six months of Japanese language training in Indonesia and must pass the NAT TEST N4 before being dispatched to Japan.
Upon arrival in Japan, the nurses will undergo an additional two months of training to deepen their understanding of the Japanese language and receive basic nursing training. After completing the training, the nurses are expected to pass the NAT TEST N3, qualifying them to work in home care facilities or hospitals. As a commitment to this collaboration, both parties agreed to follow up on the meeting's outcomes.
