The strategic role of universities is often discussed in three main discourses: as a teaching university, a research university, and a bastion of civilization. These roles are integrated into the tri-dharma of higher education. The vision of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) for 2020 is to become a world-class research university and a reference point in the field of research. One of the elements of Tri Darma Perguruan Tinggi is conducting research and disseminating research results through internationally indexed scientific publications. To assist lecturers in publishing their research findings, the Faculty of Nursing organized a workshop on writing scientific articles.
It is essential for lecturers to have strong skills in writing international scientific articles to achieve national and international recognition for the Faculty of Nursing.
The Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Sumatera Utara hosted the "Workshop on Scientific Journal Publication" with the following speakers:

The workshop was held over two days:

The target participants were all lecturers from the Faculty of Nursing at USU. 32 lecturers attended the workshop to prepare manuscripts for publication in journals.
The obligation of research and scientific publication has become a part of the process of advancing academic functional positions and is increasingly discussed following the issuance of Permenristekdikti No. 20 of 2017 regarding the provision of professional allowances for lecturers and honorary professor allowances. This regulation mainly discusses the "Obligation for Scientific Publication in Reputable International Journals."
This workshop is expected to help the faculty of nursing lecturers at USU fulfill this obligation.
