Medan, August 4, 2026 — The academic community of the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) extends its congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Dr. Evi Karota Bukit, S.Kp., MNS., CIIQA., on her inauguration as a Permanent Professor of Universitas Sumatera Utara in the field of Community Nursing. This inauguration marks a significant academic achievement that reflects her dedication and contribution to the advancement of nursing science, particularly in the field of community nursing.

The Inauguration Ceremony of Permanent Professors of Universitas Sumatera Utara was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) at the USU Student Hall, Jalan Universitas, USU Campus, Medan. The event served as an important academic occasion to strengthen USU’s scholarly tradition and recognize academics who have contributed to the advancement of knowledge, education, research, and community service.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Dr. Evi Karota Bukit, S.Kp., MNS., CIIQA., delivered a scientific address entitled “Transforming Community Nursing Practice through the Ethnonursing Paradigm.” The address emphasized the importance of developing community nursing practices that understand individuals holistically through cultural, social, and environmental approaches. The ethnonursing paradigm serves as a foundation for delivering more humane, contextual, and community-centered nursing care, enabling health interventions to be better accepted and generate tangible impacts within communities.

Her inauguration as a Professor in the field of Community Nursing further strengthens the role of the Faculty of Nursing at USU in advancing scholarly innovation and developing high-quality nursing practices. Through this strategic role, Prof. Dr. Evi Karota Bukit is expected to continue contributing to the improvement of professional nursing education, strengthening community-based research, and generating ideas and innovations capable of addressing public health challenges at both the national and global levels.
This achievement is in line with Universitas Sumatera Utara’s commitment to supporting sustainable development by strengthening the contribution of higher education institutions to improving the quality of life of communities.
