Medan – The 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was officially opened on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The opening ceremony took place from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. WIB at Kembar Field, Dr. A. Sofian Street, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and was attended by new students from various faculties, including the Faculty of Nursing USU. The 2026 PKKMB USU will be held over three days, on August 12, 13, and 14, 2026.

The opening ceremony began with remarks by the master of ceremonies, followed by the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, as well as the USU March and Hymn, and a prayer. The event continued with remarks from the USU Student Executive Board (BEM USU) and Student Representative Council (DPM USU), a report on the implementation of PKKMB USU 2026 by the Vice Rector I, and remarks from the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Secretary of the Board of Trustees (MWA) then delivered remarks on behalf of the Chair of the MWA, followed by guidance and direction from the Rector of USU. The opening ceremony culminated in the official opening of PKKMB USU 2026 and the handover of the 2026 cohort of new students. Following the ceremony, the new students were directed to their respective faculties to participate in faculty-level PKKMB activities.

For the Faculty of Nursing USU, PKKMB serves as an important starting point for welcoming new students while introducing them to the academic environment, educational values, and student life within the faculty. The activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education through efforts to foster an educational environment that supports the development of knowledge, competencies, character, and preparedness among students as future professional and integrity-driven nursing practitioners.
