Faculty of Nursing, September 22, 2026 — The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), as part of the World Class University program, successfully held a Guest Lecture entitled “Ethicolegal Governance in Nursing Practice: The Strategic Role of Professional Organizations” on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 14.30 to 16.00 WIB via Zoom Meeting.
The activity was officially opened with welcoming remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Dudut Tanjung, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.KMB. In his remarks, he expressed appreciation for the organization of the event and emphasized the importance of understanding ethical and legal governance for nurses to ensure legal protection, patient safety, and the quality of healthcare services delivered with integrity.
The guest lecture featured Dr. Harif Fadhillah, S.Kp., S.H., M.Kep., M.H., as the main speaker, who presented comprehensive material on legal dynamics, nursing ethics, and the vital role of professional organizations in overseeing professional nursing practice. The presentation and interactive discussion were guided by Prof. Dr. Evi Karota, S.Kp., MNS., CIIQA, as the host and moderator.
The organization of this guest lecture is closely related to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening academic and professional knowledge, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) to ensure the quality of patient care standards, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) through the enforcement of ethical and legal norms in nursing practice.
Through the successful organization of this guest lecture, the Faculty of Nursing USU continues to demonstrate its commitment to broadening the academic community's knowledge and strengthening its strategic role toward a world-class university reputation.
