Medan, August 6, 2026 – The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKep USU), participated in the Technical Guidance on Crisis Communication Management in Higher Education held at the Academic Senate Meeting Room, USU Rectorate Building. The activity featured Asmono Wikan, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., CEO of PR INDONESIA Group, who delivered material highlighting the importance of higher education institutions’ preparedness in addressing communication challenges in an era of transparency and digital disruption.

Through this activity, participants gained an understanding of strategies for identifying issues at an early stage, managing risks, and handling crises systematically to prevent them from developing into threats to institutional reputation. The material also emphasized that rapid, empathetic, transparent, and data-driven communication is an important factor in maintaining public trust and establishing credible higher education governance amid the rapid flow of digital information.
For FKep USU, participation in this technical guidance is part of the faculty’s commitment to continuously developing human resource competencies, particularly in public relations and institutional communication. The knowledge gained is expected to be implemented to strengthen internal coordination, deliver accurate information, and manage issues professionally in order to support the creation of a conducive, safe, and trustworthy academic environment.

This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through capacity building for human resources and quality higher education governance, as well as SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting transparent, accountable, and responsive institutions capable of building public trust through an effective crisis communication system.
