Jakarta – As a recognition of universities' achievements in the Key Performance Indicator (IKU), the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology awarded the 2022 IKU achievements for State Universities (PTN) and the Integrity Zone (ZI) Free from Corruption (WBK) to academic PTNs at the Coordination Meeting for the Evaluation of Program, Activities, and Budget for the Second Quarter of 2023, held at the JW Marriot Hotel in Jakarta, on Friday, July 21.

The IKU achievement awards for PTNs were measured based on the eight Key Performance Indicators outlined in the Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 3/M/2021 on IKU PTNs and LLDikti. These eight indicators include: 1) Graduates obtaining decent employment, 2) Students gaining experience outside campus, 3) Lecturers engaging in off-campus activities, 4) Practitioners teaching on campus, 5) Lecturers' work being used by society and recognized internationally, 6) Study programs collaborating with world-class partners, 7) Collaborative and participatory classes, and 8) Study programs with international standards.

The awards were grouped into four leagues: League of State Universities with Legal Entities (PTN BH), State Universities with Public Service Agencies (PTN BLU), State Universities with Work Units (PTN Satker), and State Universities with Arts Work Units (PTN Satker Seni). Before the event, academic PTNs were asked to submit their IKU data from indicators 1 to 8 from April to May 2023. The final IKU assessment results underwent a rigorous validation and verification process and will be announced via the Director-General Decree for IKU PTN 2022 Achievements. BOPTN incentives amounting to Rp. 347 billion will be awarded to academic PTNs based on their achievements.

Meanwhile, the ZI-WBK award was given to universities whose leadership and staff are committed to realizing a Corruption-Free Area (WBK) or Clean and Servicing Bureaucratic Area (WBBM) through bureaucratic reform. The development of the Integrity Zone has been ongoing since the era of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, initially at the university level. However, since the Directorate General of Higher Education returned to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the focus of the integrity zone has shifted to the faculty level.

Acting Director-General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Nizam, congratulated higher education stakeholders who have worked hard to achieve the IKU. Nizam emphasized that the improved IKU achievements are significant, and he hopes that in the future, IKU achievements can be more evenly distributed.

"I would like to congratulate the winners in each category and those who made it to the top 10% positions. This doesn’t mean those below them are less enthusiastic, but they still need to catch up with the enthusiasm of those in the top 10%. So, in the future, let's aim for even greater enthusiasm," said Nizam.

Nizam also praised the Endowment Fund for Higher Education (DAPT) achieved by PTN BH, which exceeded Rp250 billion. The universities that received the highest amounts include Universitas Airlangga (Rp250 billion), Institut Pertanian Bogor (Rp304 billion), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Rp300 billion), Institut Teknologi Bandung (Rp308 billion), and Universitas Sumatera Utara (Rp320 billion). Nizam hopes that representatives from these PTNs can learn about endowment fundraising and management from universities that have successfully established productive endowment funds.

“There’s no need to look far; even Singapore has examples, like NUS and NTU, whose endowment funds amount to 8 or 10 trillion, showing us how those institutions have grown into world-class universities. Hopefully, our efforts will lead to the development of human resources, which will become the future hope for the progress of our nation,” Nizam concluded.
