Medan, July 30, 2026 – The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKep USU) conducted Learning Assessment Design (LAD) Training based on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach at the Faculty of Nursing Auditorium. Attended by academic and administrative staff, the training aimed to strengthen the implementation of the OBE-based curriculum through the development of structured, measurable learning assessment systems aligned with the Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL). The program forms part of the faculty's commitment to enhancing educational quality and producing graduates who are competent, adaptable, and well prepared to meet the demands of the professional workforce.
During the training, participants received presentations from the USU Directorate of Educational Development covering the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), the alignment of Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) with Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK), and the development of Learning Assessment Design (LAD) as a framework for measuring students' competency achievement. In addition to the presentations, participants took part in workshops on developing assessment instruments, scoring rubrics, portfolios, learning outcome evaluations, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) mechanisms to support the ongoing enhancement of educational quality.
The training reaffirmed the Faculty of Nursing's commitment to fostering an academic culture that prioritizes the quality of student learning outcomes rather than focusing solely on the learning process. Through the implementation of OBE, each course is constructively aligned with the graduate profile, stakeholder needs, and both national and international higher education standards. This approach is expected to strengthen the faculty's internal quality assurance system while enhancing the competitiveness of its graduates at both the national and international levels.
The program also reflects the Faculty of Nursing's contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by improving learning quality, strengthening educators' capacities, and implementing competency-based assessment systems. Furthermore, the collaboration with the USU Directorate of Educational Development supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by reinforcing institutional collaboration in developing innovative, high-quality, and sustainable higher education governance to produce outstanding nursing graduates with global competitiveness.
