Medan, July 30, 2026 – The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), continues to demonstrate its commitment to the internationalization of higher education through its active participation in the 5th IMT-GT UNINET Council Meeting 2026, held at the 8th Floor Hall of the Digital Learning Center Building (DLCB), Universitas Sumatera Utara, on July 30–31, 2026. The international forum provided an important opportunity for the faculty to expand its collaborative network with member universities of the Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle University Network (IMT-GT UNINET).
As one of the invited faculties, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, took the opportunity to engage with university leaders, vice rectors, and officials responsible for international cooperation from universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The meeting is expected to serve as the foundation for future collaborations in academic exchange, student and faculty mobility, joint research, international scientific publications, and community service initiatives with broad societal impact.
The Faculty of Nursing's participation in this international forum aligns with its efforts to strengthen institutional internationalization, enhance the quality of nursing education, and expand research networks capable of addressing global health challenges. Cross-border collaboration is expected to generate innovations in nursing, enrich the academic experience of faculty members and students, and improve the international competitiveness of its graduates.
The faculty's participation also reflects its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through strengthening healthcare innovation and services, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing inclusive, internationally recognized higher education, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through collaborative research and innovation, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering global partnerships among higher education institutions.
Through its participation in the 5th IMT-GT UNINET Council Meeting 2026, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is optimistic about expanding sustainable international partnerships and developing collaborative programs that will enhance the quality of education, research, community service, and the faculty's international reputation. This initiative reflects the faculty's ongoing commitment to advancing nursing science and contributing to sustainable healthcare development at both the regional and global levels.
