In 2019, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the Pema FKEP USU and the Faculty of Nursing USU presented a national health science competition called Dhescien (Deli Health Scientific).
This event brought together students from all health science fields across Indonesia and marked the first time that the competition was organized directly by students of FKEP USU. Dhescien aimed to provide an opportunity for students from all health science disciplines in Indonesia to showcase their creativity and critical thinking in solving issues related to tropical and infectious diseases. The theme of Dhescien FKEP USU this year was "Tropical and Infectious Diseases."
The event took place from April 25 to April 28, 2019, with registration and submission of works starting from March 1 to April 8, 2019.
The competitions held during this event included scientific essays, Literature Reviews, Public Posters, and a Speech Contest.
In this competition, FKEP USU achieved recognition in the Speech Contest category, with the Third Place award going to Pranciska Sitorus (FKep USU 2016) and the First Place award going to Tamara Shahira (FKEP USU 2016).
The series of Dhescien FKEP USU 2019 events concluded with a City Tour in Medan and Berastagi, visiting locations such as the Lumbini Natural Park, Berastagi Strawberry Farm, Mejuah-juah Park, and the Maimun Palace.
